The Future Is Electric For Cardiff University
The renewal of the Cardiff University fleet takes a big step in a green direction with the acquisition of multiple EV's through Fleet EV. Also a client of Popin, Fleet EV sourced nine brand new Renault eKangoos, a Vauxhall eVivaro and three Citroen Amis. With electrical powered vehicles providing zero emissions, this change helps Cardiff University with their drive to run a cleaner fleet on the roads of Cardiff.
Electric cars are more environmentally friendly than petrol or diesel vehicles in several key aspects, except for the carbon footprint of their manufacturing process—though this is expected to improve with mass production and economies of scale.
They are also significantly more energy-efficient, with an efficiency rate of 85-90% compared to just 17-21% for internal combustion engine vehicles. This higher efficiency means they require less energy to travel the same distance, leading to reduced energy production demands and, consequently, lower CO2 emissions from non-renewable energy sources and the broader energy supply chain.
A Branding Solution That Delivers
Cardiff University wanted to shout and push their brand on the road with their new sustainable fleet. Popin was approached by the fleet management department with the request of handling the livery setup and application whilst working closely with the University design department.
Matching up the Cardiff University's iconic red to a suitable wrap material, Popin set up a solution for converting the digital 2D designs provided by the design team which utilise prominent typography against the contrasting base colours of the vehicles.
Quantity AND Quality
With thanks to Popin's facility size & setup along with superior staff training, we were able to provide a seamless transition for the fleet management team. Wrapping multiple vehicles in tandem, the vans were prepped, wrapped and completed promptly and efficiently without any sacrifice in the quality of the work. With multiple teams working at once, the project was delivered comfortably within the deadline window. This allowed for a far easier integration process with the University's plans for the big reveal outside the recognisable Main Building opposite the Cardiff Students Union.
